At Centres for early Learning, our programs are based on our educational philosophy and focus on the total development of the child (emotional, intellectual, physical and social growth) through play and "hands on learning".  The children's health, safety, well-being and education are always our foremost concerns.  Of course we meet all the basic needs of the child as well.  Cleanliness, rest and nutrition are important aspects of our daily program.

Eager young minds and hands at CFEL are given the opportunity to experiment, create and actively learn through age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate programs that are lots of fun.  New experiences in our stimulating and secure environment allow each child to stretch his/her muscles and mind.  Our equipment and activities are specifically oriented towards children, their needs and their development, including children with special needs.

The programming curriculum and enrichment program include: arts & crafts, book appreciation, computers & technology, cooking, environment awareness, field trips, fine and gross motor activity, awareness, music & movement, nutrition, personal safety, puppetry, science & nature studies, sensory and dramatic play, swimming, theme days, and informal and formal cognitive activities including school readiness, pre-reading, homework clubs, and enhanced and remedial learning programs.

The daily schedule provides a balance of structured and unstructured, active and quiet, group and individual and indoor and outdoor activities.  A before and after school program is available for school aged children as well as a summer camp for children not enrolled during the school year.

Our facilities are maintained in the finest condition with the help of our children.  The children are encouraged to use our extensive variety of inviting child size and adult size equipment to its fullest.  However, they are also taught to take care of the equipment and facilities as part of our initiative to foster respect and care for all belongings.  The children are taught to tidy up after themselves and to try to leave things in a condition in which they would like to find them.

A certified Dietician of the Public Health Department has approved our menus.  All meals and snacks meet the requirements of Canada's Food Guide and Day Nurseries Act, are high in quality, low in sugar and enjoyed by the children.  Our menus are posted in the centre and all food allergies are given serious attention.  A quiet afternoon rest period is provided daily to fulfill each child's need and toilet training is included in our program.
